The photographs of abandoned buildings and objects now number over 250, taken mostly in New Jersey. They explore personal abandonment as well as America’s predilection to turn away from what’s old or used. Many countries value their buildings. Here, organizations form to fight to preserve old buildings because developers and governments prefer to tear them down.
I shot most of the series with an Apple iPod touch, which is an imprecise device that naturally lends an unfinished quality to the subjects in the series, which include abandoned dwellings, buildings, gas stations, warehouses, and objects, as well as homes succumbing to nature.
